The british Government’s five-year Strategy for Asylum and Immigration entitled ‘Controlling their borders: making migration work for Britain’ published on 7 February 2005 announced that UK visas (now the UK Border Agency) would be collecting biometric data from all visa applicants, irrespective of nationality

All visa applicants save for a limited number of exceptions will be required to attend in person to register their biometric data. Biometrics are collected at the offices of the British mission, commercial partner or in certain cases, the host government Enrolment will simply mean presenting fingers on a glass screen, plus having a digital photograph taken; no ink, no mess. It will take less than five minutes and will not delay the decision on your application.

• Student Visa Application form. VAF1 - Non-settlement
• Photograph - size 2 inches x 2 inches
• Offer Letter from the Institution
• Receipt for any deposit or prepayment of tuition fees paid to the University - if applicable
• Evidence of current studies, or current employment. If neither, evidence of current status
• TOEFL / IELTS score, if applicable
• Valid Passport
• Visa fee in cash or Bank Draft
• Copies of Academic Mark sheets and Certificates
• Proof of payment of fees, if applicable
• Proof of Funds - Applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient liquid assets to pay the tuition fees, living expenses and travelling cost without engaging in employment in UK. Even Bank Loans are accepted.
• Letter from the sponsor
• Income Tax Papers of the sponsor

It is strongly recommended that sponsors, other than parents, living outside of India or Pakistan prepay your University tuition fees and keep the receipt of the payment before you apply for your visa. This proves that the sponsor is genuine.
